Good Homes magazine • Complete Guide to Interior Design
“I designed this book to be a celebration of beautiful inspirational images, watercolour effects and indulgent brush lettering”
Brief
The idea was to use some of Good Homes magazine’s beautiful collection of imagery to create a standalone interior design bookazine that would be sold from the newsstand.
Concept
Having worked with Good Homes magazine to help relaunch the title in 2015 I understood the brand genetics, but this project needed an identity that could be both familiar and fresh at the same time. Fitting with the main magazine’s style, I wanted the images to become the real heroes of the piece so the reader could get the full experience of their colours, patterns and decorating ideas. Drawing inspiration from the DIY theme of the book I then created a library of watercolour elements, hand-drawn roundels, borders and flourishes and incorporated a brush script font called Mila. In layout each page combines a couple of these new elements to complement the large-format images.
